At DW Field Park on Saturday, the Kids Road Races marked the end of an era. The Gorman family, led by organizer Dave Gorman, has upheld this tradition for almost half a century, rewarding children with prizes and a pizza party after each race.

The Brockton Police presence at these events, escorting the runners along the 2.2-mile stretch, is a testament to the department's dedication to our community. Avon Police also support the races.

With such a long history, it is not unusual to hear about police officers who participated in the race when they were children.

Brockton Police Sergeant Mike Livingston (sporting the red Boxer jersey and cap captured in a photo with race organizer Dave Gorman) may not have grown up here, but his children have. They've been active race participants for over a decade, adding to the event's rich history.

The BPD recognizes the significance of this event's 47th year and is honored to be part of its longstanding tradition.
